Keenetic router login
Keenetic routers open their admin page at my.keenetic.net or at the IP address 192.168.1.1. Both work only from a device connected to the router by Wi-Fi or cable. The brand began as a line of Zyxel routers and has been an independent company since 2017, which is why older units carry the name “Zyxel Keenetic”.
Username and password
- Current Keenetic routers (KeeneticOS) have no factory password. The username is
admin, and the password is created in the setup wizard on the first visit. - Older Zyxel Keenetic routers used
admin/1234.
If the password is lost, hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds with the router on, until the status light starts blinking. The router returns to factory settings and the setup wizard starts again; the internet connection details have to be entered anew.
Admin password vs Keenetic account
Two different logins are easy to mix up. The admin password protects the router’s web interface at my.keenetic.net. The Keenetic account is what you sign in to in the mobile app; it links your routers to you so you can manage them remotely. Resetting one does not change the other.
To change the admin password, log in to the web interface and open the users and access settings, select the admin user and set a new password. Use a different password from your Wi-Fi key.
Ways to manage a Keenetic
- Web interface at my.keenetic.net: full settings, including the internet connection, Wi-Fi, connected devices and updates.
- The Keenetic mobile app: setup and everyday settings from a phone, also away from home once the router is linked to your account.
- KeenDNS: the router’s own address on the internet for remote access to the web interface. Turn it on in the settings; my.keenetic.net itself never works from outside your network.
Mesh and extenders
Several Keenetic routers can form one Wi-Fi system: the main router controls the others, which work as extenders. Settings for the whole system are changed on the main router. If my.keenetic.net opens a page that shows the device as an extender, connect to the main router or look up its address in the device list.
Keenetic: frequently asked questions
What is the default password for a Keenetic router?
Current Keenetic routers have none: you create it during setup, with the username admin. Older Zyxel Keenetic routers used admin / 1234.
What is the Keenetic router IP address?
By default 192.168.1.1. The name my.keenetic.net opens the same page.
Which password does the Keenetic app ask for?
The app uses your Keenetic account, which is separate from the router’s admin password. The admin password is only needed for the web interface at my.keenetic.net.
Can I manage a Keenetic router remotely?
Yes, through the Keenetic app or KeenDNS. my.keenetic.net and 192.168.1.1 work only inside your home network.
