fritz.box Login Admin

To access the router admin page, simply enter fritz.box into your web browser's address bar or click the link below. This will direct you to the login page of your router's control panel.

The IP address displayed here is typically the default address for your router’s admin interface. However, please ensure that you are connected to the same network as the router for this to work correctly. If you are using a different network or have made custom settings, the address may vary.

How to log in to fritz.box

  1. Connect to the router. Join its Wi-Fi network or plug a computer into one of its LAN ports. Mobile data will not work.
  2. Open the admin page. Type http://fritz.box into the browser’s address bar (not the search box) and press Enter.
  3. Accept the certificate warning if one appears. Routers use self-signed certificates, so “Not secure” on this page is normal inside your own network.
  4. Enter the username and password. Look at the sticker on the bottom of the router first: many models print a unique password there.
  5. Change the default password in the administration or system section as soon as you are in.

What fritz.box is

fritz.box is the name every FRITZ!Box router by AVM answers to inside its home network. Open http://fritz.box on a connected device and you get the FRITZ!Box user interface, the same as at 192.168.178.1.

Other FRITZ! devices have their own names

  • http://fritz.repeater opens a FRITZ!Repeater.
  • http://fritz.powerline opens a FRITZ!Powerline adapter.
  • http://fritz.box always means the FRITZ!Box itself, even when you are connected through a repeater.
  • In a FRITZ! Mesh the FRITZ!Box is the mesh master: settings for repeaters and powerline adapters in the mesh are managed from fritz.box.

Password and remote access

The login asks for the FRITZ!Box password printed on the label on the underside of the device, unless someone has changed it. For access away from home, AVM offers MyFRITZ! and the MyFRITZ!App; fritz.box itself works only inside the home network.

When fritz.box does not open

  1. A VPN or a manually set DNS server stops the FRITZ!Box from resolving the name. Turn it off, or open 192.168.178.1.
  2. The FRITZ!Box runs as an IP client or mesh repeater behind another router; its address then comes from that router. Check your default gateway.
