What Is My Router IP Address?
Your router’s IP address is the default gateway of your network. Find your model below to see its default address and login, or check the gateway on your phone or computer in a few seconds.

Your router IP is the default gateway
Every device in your home network sends its internet traffic through the router, so the router’s own address is listed on the device as the default gateway (on Apple devices — Router). Type that address into a browser and the router’s settings page opens.
No website can show you this address automatically: the router address belongs to your private network, and browsers do not let pages look inside it. What a website sees is your public IP address, which is a different thing — you can check it on What Is My IP?. So there are two reliable ways: find your router model in the search above, or read the gateway on your device as shown below.
How to find your router IP on your device
Windows 10 and 11
- Press Win + R, type
cmdand press Enter. - Type
ipconfigand press Enter. - Under your active connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), find Default Gateway. That is your router IP.
Without the command line: Control Panel → Network and Sharing Center → click your connection → Details → “IPv4 Default Gateway”.
Mac
System Settings → Network → Wi-Fi (or Ethernet) → Details → TCP/IP → Router. On older macOS versions: System Preferences → Network → Advanced → TCP/IP. In Terminal, route -n get default shows the same address on the “gateway” line.
iPhone and iPad
Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the ⓘ button next to the network you are connected to → Router.
Android
Settings → Network & internet (on Samsung — Connections) → Wi-Fi → tap the gear or the connected network → look for Gateway or Router; on some phones it is under Advanced or View more. Menu names differ between manufacturers. If your phone shows only its own IP address, such as 192.168.0.23, the router is most often the same first three numbers ending in .1 — here 192.168.0.1.
Chromebook
Settings → Network → Wi-Fi → click your network → in the Network section, find Gateway.
Linux
Run ip route | grep default. The address after “via” is the router.
The most common router IP addresses
If you just want to try, start with these. They cover 87% of the 3,416 router models with a known default address in our database:
| Address | Share of models |
|---|---|
| 192.168.1.1 | 39.1% |
| 192.168.0.1 | 29.4% |
| 192.168.2.1 | 9.8% |
| 192.168.1.254 | 4.8% |
| 192.168.10.1 | 3.3% |
Brands are fairly consistent: most D-Link and Tenda models use 192.168.0.1, ASUS and Linksys 192.168.1.1, Belkin and Edimax 192.168.2.1, while TP-Link and NETGEAR use both of the first two. The full breakdown is in our router default IP and password statistics.
What the address you found tells you
- 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x or 172.16–31.x.x — a normal private router address. Open it with
http://in front, for examplehttp://192.168.0.1. - Your device shows 169.254.x.x and no gateway — it did not get an address from the router at all. Reconnect to the Wi-Fi or restart the router; until then no router page will open.
- The gateway opens your provider’s modem, not your router — you have two devices in a row and your computer is connected to the first one. Connect to your own router’s Wi-Fi or LAN port, or find its address in the modem’s list of connected devices.
- Nothing is listed at all — the device is not connected to a network right now.
After you find it
Type the address into the browser’s address bar (not the search box) while you are connected to the router. The login page asks for a username and password: check the label on the router first, then the defaults for your model in the search above or in our list of default router logins. Each address in the table has its own page with the typical logins and fixes for when it does not open.
Router IP address: frequently asked questions
Is my router IP the same as my IP address?
No. Your router IP is a private address used inside your home network, such as 192.168.1.1. Your public IP address is the one websites see, assigned by your internet provider. The router connects the two.
Can a website detect my router IP?
No. Browsers do not let websites look into your local network, so any page claiming to detect your router address is guessing. Read the default gateway on your device instead — it takes a few seconds.
Can I find my router IP from my phone?
Yes. On iPhone open Settings → Wi-Fi → ⓘ next to your network → Router. On Android open the details of the connected Wi-Fi network and look for Gateway or Router.
Why are there two gateway addresses?
Usually because the device has two connections, for example Wi-Fi and Ethernet, or a VPN is on. Use the gateway of the connection that goes to your router; turn the VPN off while you open the router page.
Can I change my router IP address?
Yes, in the LAN or DHCP section of the router’s settings. People change it when the provider’s modem already uses the same address. After saving, reconnect and open the settings page at the new address.
